1. Introduction

Kymjojobs ("we," "us," or "our") is dedicated to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, process, and disclose your information in conjunction with your access to and use of the Kymjojobs platform and its services (collectively, the "Service"). This policy applies to all users of the Service, including Job Seekers, Employers, Marketplace Sellers and Buyers, Agents, and general visitors.

By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve our Service. The types of information we collect can be broadly categorized as follows:

2.1. Information You Provide to Us

  • Account Registration Data: When you create an account, we collect your first name, last name, username, email address, and password.
  • Profile Data: Depending on your role, you may provide additional information, such as a professional title, biography, skills, work experience, qualifications, profile photo, and contact details (e.g., WhatsApp number).
  • Verification Data: To become a verified Seller or for other security purposes, we may require you to submit verification documents, such as a government-issued ID (e.g., NIN) or business registration documents (e.g., CAC). For the creation of a virtual bank account, we require your Bank Verification Number (BVN), which is securely transmitted to our payment processor and not stored on our servers.
  • Transaction Data: When you make a purchase, fund your wallet, or set up for payouts, we collect necessary information. This includes shipping addresses for marketplace products, phone numbers for VTU services, smartcard/meter numbers for bill payments, and bank account details for seller/agent payouts.
  • Communications: We collect information when you communicate with us (e.g., via contact forms) or with other users through our on-site chat and messaging features.

2.2. Information We Collect Automatically

  • Usage Data: We automatically collect information about your interactions with our Service, such as the pages you visit, the features you use, your search queries, and the date and time of your access.
  • Log Data and Device Information: We collect log data, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, and other technical information when you access our Service.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and personalize the Service, such as keeping you logged in and tracking guest user sessions for our chat and rate-limiting features.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for various purposes, including:

  • To Provide and Manage the Service: To create and manage your account, process transactions, facilitate job applications, and deliver purchased goods and services.
  • To Facilitate Communication: To enable communication between users, such as between Buyers and Sellers in the marketplace or between Employers and Job Seekers via our secure portals.
  • To Process Payments and Payouts: To process payments for subscriptions, wallet funding, and marketplace orders, and to execute payouts to Sellers and Agents.
  • For Verification and Security: To verify your identity, prevent fraud, and maintain a secure and trustworthy platform. Your BVN is used solely for the one-time creation of your virtual account number via our payment processor.
  • To Personalize Your Experience: To provide tailored content, such as job recommendations and relevant service offerings.
  • For Communication and Support: To send you transactional emails (e.g., order confirmations, job alerts, payout notifications) and to respond to your support requests.
  • For Analytics and Improvement: To understand how our users interact with the Service so we can improve and optimize it.
  • To Comply with Legal Obligations: To adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.

4. Disclosure of Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data in the following circumstances:

  • With Other Users: Certain information is shared to facilitate transactions and interactions. For example, a Job Seeker's profile is shared with an Employer upon application, and a Buyer's shipping address is shared with a Seller upon purchase.
  • With Third-Party Service Providers: We share information with trusted partners who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing (Flutterwave), real-time chat functionality (Pusher), and VTU service fulfillment (GSUBZ, Club Connect). These providers are contractually obligated to safeguard your data.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
  • Business Transfers: In connection with any merger, sale of company assets, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company, your Personal Data may be transferred.

6. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable tax and revenue laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
